Pilot - Classroom Attendance Monitoring

WVU is piloting a Classroom Attendance Monitoring product with faculty and students. The pilot has been extended for the Spring 2018 term to collect additional data to determine if this is the best product to implement campus-wide.

Attendance monitoring is a part of MyMountaineerCard and students may check into a class using Mobile ID. See the handouts attached under Files for more information about the pilot and Mobile ID. Instructors can refer to the How to Log Attendance in the Classroom Attendance Monitoring Pilot article to learn more about their options for logging attendance.

Click Request Service to request assistance with Classroom Attendance Monitoring or to request to join the pilot.

Mobile ID application requirements:

  • Be sure Wi-Fi, cellular data and location services are enabled for the application to function properly.
  • Make sure the time on your device is accurate. You may experience issues if your device's time is off by more than five minutes. To resolve issues, adjust the date/time settings on your device.
  • iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices require iOS 8.0 or later.
  • Android devices require OS 4.3 or higher.
  • View our Mobile ID FAQ for more information about the application or visit an ITS Walk-Up Support location for assistance.

Using DUO Authentication in this pilot:

When logging into a WVU application that requires additional verification, you will see the Duo Authentication screen, where you’ll need to verify it’s really you. For the classroom attendance monitoring pilot, we suggest you use the Send Me a Push option for authentication, as the passcode option times out when switching between applications. See the Authenticating with Duo at WVU page for more information.

Faculty members who are part of the attendance monitoring pilot may request this service.

There is no charge to request or use this service.
