How do I schedule my courses online?

  1. Log into the WVU Portal
  2. Click the STAR link. If prompted, enter your Login credentials to continue.
  3. Select Student Services & Housing
  4. Select Registration
  5. If you know the CRNs of the classes you need, select Add or Drop Classes to enter the courses you wish to add. If you would like to browse available courses before registering, select Look-up Classes to Add or build and preview possible semester schedules using Schedule BuilderIf you can't find a class, check your search parameters and make sure nothing is checked that shouldn't be.
  6. Select the term from the dropdown menu and click Submit.
  7. Select the Subject for the courses you wish to add.
Note: If you would like to browse multiple subjects at once, you can click separate subjects while holding the Ctrl key on your keyboard.
  8. If you are on a regional campus, change the Campus/Location selection as needed.
  9. Fill out any other fields that are relevant to your search. Otherwise, leave the remaining fields blank or set to their default of All. Below are the available search fields.
  10. Click Section Search at the bottom of the page.
  11. If a class is open, click the box on the left side of the page under the Select heading.
  12. Click Register at the bottom of the page to register for the selected class. If no error messages are received, you are now registered for the class.
  13. Once you have completed registration, sign out and close your browser.

Note: Some classes have pre-requisites or require approval before registering. Advising and other account holds may also prevent you from scheduling online.

How do I review my schedule after registering?

  1. In STAR, click Student Services & Housing.
  2. Click Registration then Concise Student Schedule.
  3. From this page, you may review the classes you have added to your schedule. You can make changes to your schedule by clicking the Change Class Options link.

How do I drop a class online?

If you have mistakenly registered for the wrong class while creating your schedule or wish to drop a class during the semester, view the Drop a Class Online Through STAR article.
