Disable Skype for Business Autostart

Once you launch the Skype for Business program in Microsoft Office, it will start up automatically every time you start Windows. A configuration option is available to disable the automatic startup.

Skype for Business (formerly Lync) is configured to start automatically when Windows starts up. These instructions will disable that automatic startup, and require you to manually start Skype for Business when you wish to use it.

  1. In Skype for Business, click the Tools menu at the top. If you don't see this menu, click the gear icon and then hover the pointer over Tools.

  2. Under Tools, click Options.

  3. In the Skype for Business Options panel, use the left-side navigation to select Personal.

  4. Under My account, uncheck Automatically start the app when I log on to Windows.

  5. Click OK to exit the Options panel.
