How to Access MAP

Overview:

Use the steps below to access MAP from your browser on the WVU.Encrypted network. View the WVU Supported Browsers list for more information about browser version compatibility. Refer to the MAP JRE Certification Matrix for browser specifications. 

If you are using a Mac computer to access MAP, you can configure your Safari browser settings or use MasterApps (Citrix). If you don't have access to MasterApps, submit a MasterApps (Citrix) Access Request. If you need to install MasterApps on your Mac computer, view How to Install Citrix Reciver.

  1. Navigate to the instance you want to access:
  2. Enter your WVU Login credentials.
  3. Select the appropriate Responsibility and Menu.
  4. A security window will open. Check the box next to "Do not show me the warning for this program again" and click Allow.

  4. When asked what to do with frmservlet.jnlp, select Open.

  4. Select Keep when prompted with the message "This type of file can harm your computer. Do you want to keep frmservlet.jnlp anyway?"

  3. Select the appropriate Responsibility and Menu.
  4. Select Open with Java(TM) Web Start Launcher (default), check the box next to "Do this automatically for files like this from now on," and click OK.
  1. Open Safari and click Preferences.
  2. Click the Security icon to open the Preferences/Security window. Make sure the Allow Java and Allow all other plug-ins options are checked. Keep this window open and proceed to the next step. You will revisit this window later.
  3. Open MAP.
  4. Go back to the Preferences/Security window.
  5. Click Manage Website Settings. It should now show mapprod.wvu.edu in the list.
  6. Change the default option Ask before using to Always allow, then click Done.
  7. Close Safari and then reopen it.
  8. When you go into MAP, you should get a prompt saying that the Java version you are running is not secure and ask if you want to continue/allow. Click Allow.
  9. There should be one more window asking if you want Java to have access. Check the box next to Allow access then click OK/Continue.
