Qualtrics Survey Software

Overview:

Qualtrics is a University-wide, web-based tool for creating and conducting online surveys. Qualtrics makes sophisticated research simple, and empowers users to capture employee experience insights in one place. Remember that your access to Qualtrics is meant to be used for WVU business and academic purposes, not for personal use or private businesses.

How do I get a Qualtrics account?

  1. To obtain and use a WVU Qualtrics account, you must be a current WVU student or a current WVU employee with active WVU Login credentials. Go to login.wvu.edu for more information about these credentials.
  2. To set up your account, go to wvu.qualtrics.com.
    Log in with your WVU Login credentials: enter your username (not your email address) in the first box.
  3. Click the Sign In button or press enter. 
  4. Click the button that says I don't have a Qualtrics Account.
  5. Review the Terms of Service and click I accept at the bottom.
  6. You will then be logged into your account and will see the My Projects landing page. 
  7. You can click on the Create Project button to create your first survey. Your work will be saved as you go along. Refer to the training resources cited below for more information about creating and activating surveys.
  8. Click on the small avatar image in the upper right corner and choose Logout when you have finished your session of using Qualtrics.

Software Features:

  • Qualtrics users can
    • Send and track participation invitations and reminders.
    • Display survey results in real time, graphically, and statistically and export reports in a variety of formats.
    • Export raw data in a variety of formats.
  • Other key features include
    • Libraries of customizable templates (including a WVU branded theme) and question banks that users and groups can share.
    • A “quick survey builder” guide for beginners.
    • Survey translation capabilities, allowing respondents to select a language or default to a browser language preference and tracking those selections in survey results.
    • Continuous file saving, minimizing potential data loss due to browser crashes.
    • Folders for survey organization and groups for sharing surveys easily.
  • Qualtrics is integrated with WVU’s login authentication system.
  • The Qualtrics system allows sharing of surveys with non-WVU users who are using Qualtrics elsewhere for collaborative research.
  • Survey ownership can be transferred to another WVU employee when an employee leaves WVU.
