Creating an IP restriction:

  2. Select the desired course.
  3. Select the content area containg the exam.
  4. Click the Action Link (drop down arrow), next to the exam name.
  5. Click Edit the Test Options.
  6. This will open the Test Options page.
  7. Scroll down to Test Avliability area.
  8. Scroll down to Restrict Location.
  9. Click the drop down box.
  10. Click either the pre-configured IP restriction or click Custom IP Filter. To create a custom IP filter follow the steps in the below section.
  11. Click Submit.

Creating custom IP filters:

When a Custom IP Filter is chosen, the user must Assign Allowed and Blocked IPs manually. Any IP Restriction must include the Allowed IPs and a Block line asterisk wildcard as indicated below. This is required to ensure unapproved locations are successfully blocked.

  1. Click Custom IP Filter, from the drop down box.
  2. A blank text box will appear.
  3. Type ALLOW, a Space and then type the IP Address for each IP approced for testing.
  4. Type a Slash (/) followed by another IP address to include a range of approved addresses.
  5. Type BLOCK, a Space and then an Asterisk (*) to ensure the test is only accessible through the approved IP addresses.
  6. Click Submit.

Note: After an instructor creates a set of Custom IP Filter Rules, those rules are available to the same instructor when setting IP Filter Rules for future assessments.
