How to Export your WVU Mail Contacts to Your Retiree Account

Overview:

You can use Outlook Web App (OWA) to export your O365 Contacts to an external file, which you can then import into your Retiree account.

Steps to export from your O365 Account:

  1. Log into your Office 365 mail account in OWA.
  2. Click the People icon to get to your Contacts screen.
  3. Click Manage on the Office 365 toolbar and select Export contacts.
  4. In the Export contacts panel, select which contacts you want to export. You have the choice of selecting All contacts or selecting a Contacts folder.
  5. Click the Export command at the top of the Export contacts panel.
  6. When prompted, save the contacts.csv file onto your computer.
  7. Open the exported file to confirm there is contact information in it.

Steps to import your Contacts:

  1. Log into your Retiree account in OWA.
  2. Click the People icon to get to your Contacts screen.
  3. Click Manage on the Office 365 toolbar and select Import contacts.
  4. In the Import contacts panel, select Outlook 2010, 2013, or 2016 from the menu.
  5. In the Import contacts from Outlook 2010, 2013, or 2016 panel, click on the Browse button and use the file explorer to navigate to the location in which you stored the exported contacts file.
  6. Select the contacts.csv file you exported in the steps above and click the Open button.
  7. Finally, click the Upload command at the top of the Import contacts panel.
  8. After a few moments, you should see the Import successful message with the count of how many contacts were imported.
  9. Click the Cancel command at the top of the panel.
  10. Expand the Your contacts folder (on the left) to see your imported contacts.
  11. If you want to edit or delete a contact, place a check in front of the individual contact entry and choose the appropriate command from the Office 365 toolbar.
