HPC (High Performance Computing)

WVU offers HPC (High Performance Computing) resources for WVU research staff and faculty through the ITS Research Computing Group. HPC refers to the practice of aggregating computing power in a way that delivers much higher performance than out of a typical desktop computer or workstation to solve large problems.

WVU HPC is a community-led, peer driven effort to ensure WVU maintains a lead in many fields of research that require powerful, low-latency computing including molecular physics, computational neurosciences, advanced materials research and NanoSAFE. Over 3,000 cores are available to researchers on two systems, Mountaineer and Spruce Knob.
