Error Connecting to Shared Database When Logging Into StarRez

The credentials used to log into a Windows computer become out of sync with the domain after a changing the password. Users need to reauthenticate the account with your new password.


When you try to log into an application that connects to a shared database server, you may see the following error message:

Connection to shared database on [WVUSA221,29273] failed due to an unexpected error. Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication.

This usually happens when you try to open StarRez after changing your Login password while still signed into Windows.


To fix the problem, you need to sign into Windows again using your new password. Any of these solutions should work:

  • Lock and then unlock the computer.
  • Log out of the computer and log back in.
  • Reboot the computer.
