Open Education

Overview:

Open Education is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) service provided by Blackboard.  West Virginia University, in addition to many other institutions, offers courses through Open Education.

How to access Open Education Courses:

  1. Go to openeducation.blackboard.com
  2. Click the login button at the top right of the page
  3. At the bottom of the dialog box, click the “Don’t have an account? Create one now” link. 
  4. Create your Open Education Account using the following:
    1. User Name is your FirstLastname (example: JohnSmith) 
    2. Fill out the rest of the form  and click the create account button.
  5. You will receive a welcome email once your account has been created. 
  6. Go to openeducation.blackboard.com/wvu. You will see a list of WVU Open Education courses.
  7. Scroll down the list and select your course name 
  8. Once the course page opens, click the Enroll button on the right of the screen
  9. You will be prompted to login with your username and password
  10. You will receive a message at the top of the page indicating that you are now enrolled in the course.
  11. Click the Go to Course to access your course.

How to Access the International Students Pre-Arrival Orientation Modules:

  1. After you create an account using the steps above, go to openeducation.blackboard.com/wvu. If prompted, enter your account information to log in. 
  2. Select the International Students Pre-Arrival Orientation course and click Enroll. You will be prompted to log in with your Open Education account. 
  3. Once inside of the course, click Start Here on the left navigation panel. 
  4. Click the Access Code link. 
  5. Click Begin
  6. Enter the following access code: Y3K6WWPU 
  7. Click Save and Submit. You should now be able to access the course content.
